HODSON TAKES ANOTHER RACE PODIUM

What an awesome weekend in Tassie! We came away with another race podium and 4th overall for the round and also showcased our new partners for the first time!
Friday:
Practice 1: With a new track and wet conditions it was all about getting a feel for the track. I slowly chipped away and as I got more comfortable I put in a lap good enough for P4.
Practice 2: We had dry conditions for this one so a little bit of a reset finding new brake markers etc. Finished P4 again in the session
Qualifying: Still had dry conditions just but a lot of eyes were looking skyward. We had a really good run and qualified on Row 2 which is another great result following up our previous best on Row 1 at Queensland. The top 4 cars all went under the time set by Marco Giltrap in qualifying last year so the pace was red hot.
Saturday:
Race 1: Started P4 and got a really good jump and slotted into P3 into T1 on a wet track. We had good pace but with a number of safety cars the race just didn’t feel like it ever truly got going. Regardless of that we kept it on the track in trying conditions and brought the car home P3 for another podium result!
Race 2: Started P3, got off the line well and held 3rd, lost a position when dealing with lapped traffic and fell to P4 until a safety car came out. Unfortunately we got turned around at the restart causing myself to spin off into the gravel trap. Luckily I got out but fell to the back of the order, at the next restart we battled hard and made our way back to P6.
Race 3: Started P6. I got off the line well again and got straight into P5. On cold tyres on Lap 1 I made a move for P4 around the outside of T4 and made it stick! We had a heavy vibration in the car but I really backed myself on the cold tyres in this shortened race and set my eyes forward to the lead 3. We put down some of our most consistent and fast race laps of the season and finished just half a second off the tail of that battlepack in a time shortened race.
Overall that left us 1 single point off the Round podium for the second round running! Disappointing to again be so close but we know what the work-on’s are and will really have a swing at the final round in Sydney. We’re very pleased with our progress in a number of key areas and will look to finish the year strong.
